This is a FAWM 2012 song that didn't make the "Time Always Wins" cut, mainly because I cannibalized it for another song, "It Wasn't Me", that did make the cut. Same chord progression with one minor change, same double dropped 'D' tuning, and the same two slide guitar licks, which are the only ones I know. Yet, in the end, they're pretty different characters.
lyrics
So long
I can't stay in one place
too long
all good things go to waste
I know my good things will never last
I've learned all too well, the lessons of my past
I'm pretty sure they'll never call us
to the temple of solace
So long
think it's time for me to
move on
I just don't believe you
I could never make myself ignore
all these verses, I've sung 'em all before
I'm pretty sure they'll never call us
to the temple of solace
So long
I'm out before everything can go wrong
it all gets out of hand
I tell you this, 'cause you're my friend
I know exactly how this story ends
I'm pretty sure they'll never call us
to the temple of solace
