This seems unfinished to me - more a vignette than a song. But it captures something. If you subscribe to the view that songs are floating around in the air, and all you need to do is put up your antenna and pick them up, this song is about those times when you put up your antenna but the stations won't come in and everything's all garbled. Or maybe it just captures goofiness. Who am I to say?
lyrics
sounds fall down
from the pregnant sky
they're falling, they're falling
sounds fall down
they rarely catch your eye
but they're calling, they're calling
and I'm not ready
barely steady
I'm surrounded by the sound
but I can't catch it
I can't steer it
barely hear it
a note drops in my ear
but I can't match it
sounds fall down
like Debussy's rain
and I know it, I know it
sounds fall down
and circle round the drain
and I know it, I can't get going
